MBTA, Keolis avoid job cuts, promises increased service levels as soon as possible
QUINCY — The MBTA and Keolis, the contractor that runs the commuter rail, will avoid job cuts and furloughs while promising to increase service levels on buses and subways “as quickly as possible.”
MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak committed to avoiding job disruptions in a letter to Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-South Boston) on Friday. The MBTA wasn’t expecting to cut any jobs, but Keolis had planned to axe 40 workers.
